Lithium battery is divided into lithium battery core and lithium battery according to its structure.

1. Lithium Cell: A single, sealed electrochemical device consisting of a positive electrode and a negative electrode with a potential difference between the two electrodes. Battery core is an important part of the lithium battery module, can not be used directly as a battery, only to provide power, need to be equipped with a protective circuit, coupled with the shell packaging to form a finished battery.

2. Lithium Battery: Two or more lithium battery cells connected together by circuit, and installation of necessary devices, such as housing, electrode terminals, markers and protection devices.

Lithium batteries are divided into lithium metal batteries (including lithium alloy batteries) and lithium ion batteries (including lithium ion polymer batteries) according to their properties.

1. Lithium Metal Battery (Lithium Metal Battery) : containing lithium in metallic state, lithium metal or lithium alloy as negative material, metal oxides or other oxidants as positive material, solid salts or salts dissolved in organic solvents as electrolytes, usually non-rechargeable disposable batteries.

2. Lithium Ion Battery: does not contain metallic lithium, lithium compounds as positive material, graphite as negative material, lithium salt dissolved in organic solvent solution as electrolyte, is rechargeable secondary battery.
