How do you charge a lithium-ion battery properly?

First, the new battery charging

The new battery is generally activated. After a period of time, the battery will enter a hibernation state. At this time, the capacity is lower than the normal value, and the use time will be shortened accordingly. Lithium-ion battery activation method is very simple, as long as after 35 normal charge and discharge cycles can activate the battery, return to normal capacity.

Second, Old battery charging

1. Charging method
Old batteries are batteries that have been charged and discharged multiple times, not dead batteries. Lithium-ion battery life is not related to the number of charge and discharge, it has no memory effect, no matter how you charge, will not affect the number of charging cycles. So don't use the battery to completely no power to charge, it is best when you can charge, as far as possible to full battery, charging time to 2-3 hours is appropriate, of course you do not have to full.
2. Charging voltage
The safe operating voltage range of a lithium-ion battery is 2.8 to 4.2V. Below or above this voltage range, the lithium ions in the battery become unstable. In order to ensure that the battery is in a safe range, so need a special charger. These chargers automatically adjust the charging mode according to the current state of the battery.
3. Charging tools
Lithium-ion batteries need to be charged with a special charger, which can guarantee the safety of charging. When the charger works, it charges the battery with a constant current. As the battery voltage increases, the charger increases the charging voltage at the same time to speed up the charging speed. When the battery reaches the 4.2V cutoff voltage, the battery is only about 70% charged (not full). At this time, the charger continues to charge the battery with a constant voltage and gradually decreasing current. When the value is less than 0.1A, the battery voltage is still detected to continue to rise before it stops charging.
4. Charge regularly
Lithium-ion batteries that are not used for a long time should be stored in a cool and dry place in a semi-electric state. Storing the battery on a full charge will cause damage, but without it, the battery may be damaged and thus rendered useless. In the storage process, every 3- 6 months, to complete a charging cycle, do a power calibration.
